I thought that creating a blog is a quick and easy task to accomplish. Then I got to the part where I had to think of a name for my blog. That "simple" task took me about an hour and a half. This was a good lesson. When working with teachers as they use technology, I have to be aware that a simple, un-tech related task can totally derail the use of technology. Then, I have to get over thinking that surely no one would be interested in the things that I would write in a blog. Again, a barrier that is totally unrelated to technology but one that stops the process. I love the ease of posting to a blog and I may get used to seeing my thoughts in print.
Most of the ideas expressed in the video and the articles in Thing 1 were not new to me. I can see that there are a huge number of applications that make sense for use in the classroom. My quandary is how to expose teachers to the potential in using Web 2.0 and how to show them how to find a Web 2.0 application that meets the needs of activities in their classroom. Even more, how do you build a teacher recognition that the skills learned in using the Web 2.0 sites will be key skills for our students as they enter the work world.
